Here are all my Ideas on Decluttering
As a real Estate Agent working with clients. Almost always there is an extensive decluttering in order before listing their homes.
Myself included recently, let's be honest.
Being on lockdown, we are all more aware of our surroundings. We have had to create more spaces for work and school work to be completed in our homes.
We are more demanding on our homes than ever.
Many of us see a lot of social media and television where the homes are perfect.
We feel the pressure, and we aren't happy about it.
The Kardashians employ a small team keeping their homes immaculate and are known to hire professional organizers.
So we see the problem, now where do we begin.
Many great companies can help with this. So hire is one option. Having a professional take a crack at it is worth the money.
Trade-off with a friend*, they help you with yours, and you help with theirs.
Having a fresh set of eyes chime in on whether to keep or throw away could get you a lot further.
Get inspired; there are several great shows, "Tidying Up with Marie Kondo," on Netflix, "Hot Mess House" on Hulu or "Master the Mess" on YouTube.
Sometimes our hangup on parting with items is that we feel like they are worth something.
Use Facebook Marketplace, price the items at a fair amount, try to sell them.
If they don't sell, commit to donating them; at least you tried, and now you can let them go in peace.
Hold some items; instead of directly getting rid of everything, commit to holding a selection of items for six months in a storage locker or at a relative's place.
Readdress things in 6 months and make a final decision.
Last but not least, play a game, I play all the time.
Imagine you are moving to Switzerland, and it cost 10 dollars per item in shipping to move. Look at the object and ask yourself, "is it worth the shipping?"
I hope this helps, and you leave reading somewhat inspired.
